Rather hidden in the Tulsa daily paper on July 25 was a story with a by-line by Tracie Cone of the Associated Press carrying the rather disturbing headline: “Plan to speed solar development in the West”. At first glance the impression was that here is another PRESBO Administration program to spend (waste) tax money in the name of ‘energy independence’. Upon reading the story it became apparent that it is more than that, and could not only result in substantial waste and pay-offs to friends and/or supporters of PRESBO as well as the administrative by-passing of most, if not all, of the laws and rules established to protect the public lands. But then, there seems to be a mental attitude in “Foggy Bottom” that anything is all right in the West, especially if it is wasteful of money, public land, and trashing the laws.
The story details the number of acres in each of six states in the West for a total of
285,000 acres of Federal lands. It also states that the EPA has already evaluated the sites and declared them to be suitable, whereas the usual operation is to have the companies desiring the sites to make a request and then be evaluated. Kate Zimmerman, National Wildlife Federation policy director for public lands is quoted as: “This is a huge step forward for the Bureau of Land Management, which has tended to address energy development on a project-by-project basis in response to the wants of individual companies rather than the values of the American public or the needs of fish and wildlife”. In the past the Federation has opposed energy activity proposals.
In other words, the PRESBO administration is more interested in pushing “green”
projects to be carried out by its friendly companies than in actually attempting, as claimed, to bring the USA into a position of ‘energy independence’. The BLM has been very negative towards normal development of oil, gas, coal, and other ‘fossil’ fuel sources and delays approving applications to even lease the federal lands to companies or individuals for such.
In fact, it has removed from even being available for lease application millions of acres of lands believed, or even known, to contain such producible energy materials.
Meanwhile, the ‘green earth’ activists appear to remain favorable to such diversion of land to ‘friends of the administration’ for, probably subsidized, development. It should also be remembered that the establishment of solar generation collecting fields present a very real hazard to both animal and human life because of the size and extreme heat collected. Some have even postulated that the ‘environmental movement’ has been taken over and captured by the world Communist/Socialist movement after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This appears to be a clear example of their goals, that is to bring down the economy of the USA.
It is well remembered by those of “the greatest generation” that the entire World War II was fueled by our domestic production. The Nazi U-boats were active off the Florida East Coast shores in sinking oil tankers to keep fuel from the New England states, as well as going to Great Britain for their needs. Because of that, a crash program to construct the first pipeline for crude from Oklahoma to the East was undertaken. Further, the Roosevelt Administration instituted gasoline rationing ostensibly ‘for the war effort’, when in fact there was really no shortage of the product but a problem of transportation. In my memory are statements by my Dad that “the tanks are running over” in West Tulsa at the D-X refinery and entire trainloads of tank cars would regularly leave the refinery on the Frisco Railroad headed East.
All this may be a way to achieve the stated goal of PRESBO officials to substantially increase the price of gasoline and other energy to force us to reduce the use, and thus lower our freedom and standard of living. Remember that when voting.
